We're so glad to have you in our home city

That you would travel all this way to celebrate with us... we can't emphasise enough how much we appreciate that!

We're hoping this little guide helps you navigate this colourful, chaotic, characterful city, and make this an amazing trip to remember.

Selamat datang ke Malaysia!

Accommodation

Areas that we would recommend for easy access to all the wedding venues by car/Grab:

  • KL Central

  • Bangsar

  • Petaling Jaya

There are many hotels and AirBnBs to choose from in those areas and all are generally an hour (by car or train) away from Kuala Lumpur International Airport!

Transport

We would definitely recommend using Grab to navigate the city. It’s an integrated ride hailing and food delivery app that's very easy to use! Link to download the Grab app on Google Play and the App Store.

An airport transfer in a private vehicle is around MYR60-90 on the Grab App. Alternatively, you can use the KLIA Ekspres for a quick and easy transfer to KL Sentral, our main central train station (RM50 for one-way and RM100 for a return).

Visa Clearance

UK passport holders can enter Malaysia without a visa for up to 90 days. Ensure your passport is valid for at least six months from the date of entry.

Currency, chargers, etc.!

The Malaysian currency is the Ringgit (MYR). Credit and debit cards are widely accepted, including those issued by overseas' banks. What is key is ensuring that you get either a Mastercard rate/no added fees when making payments! It's also a good idea to have some cash for smaller vendors and rural areas.

For network connectivity, eSIMS are a great option (e.g. Saily). Normal SIM cards are also available at the airport or at most convenience stores.

Malaysia uses the British-style three-pin plugs (Type G), with a voltage of 240V.

Finally, the weather: it is very hot and humid in Malaysia, with occasional spells of tropical downpour! Having an umbrella or a raincoat would be advisable and make sure to hydrate loads.
